Description
Handwritten collections of piyyutim and techinot were often assembled for private devotion, preserving beloved liturgical compositions outside the framework of the printed siddur or mahzor. Carefully copied and organized, such anthologies frequently reflect the personal customs and spiritual preferences of their compiler, bringing together prayers for the High Holidays, fast days, and other occasions into a single portable volume.
The present manuscript comprises an elegant collection of penitential and devotional compositions, including Seder Hatarat Nedarim, Seder Hatarat Kelalot, Mesirat Moda’ah, and Moda’ah VeTikun HaZera LeVatalah, together with additional prayers, supplications, and ethical meditations. The texts are introduced by bold display headings executed in a striking calligraphic square Hebrew script, while the body of the manuscript is copied in an exceptionally neat, carefully proportioned Ashkenazic square hand. Light ruling (sirtut) is visible throughout, lending the pages an orderly and harmonious appearance.
Manuscript on thick paper. 17 folios. Sewn as issued. Entirely handwritten in a handsome square Hebrew script with large decorative display headings. Bound in marbled paper-covered boards. Very good condition.
