A Rare Opportunity to Acquire the Written Words of One of the Great Halachic Luminaries of the Jewish People
Presented here is a remarkable and historically significant Torah manuscript: a handwritten notebook containing original novellae on Masechet Sukkah, penned in the very handwriting of the revered Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried (1804–1886), author of the universally cherished Kitzur Shulchan Aruch.
This extraordinary manuscript consists of 67 pages of the author’s own writing, preserving the flowing pen of a Torah giant whose halachic works have guided generations of observant Jews throughout the world. The pages reveal the depth and clarity of his Torah scholarship, offering a rare glimpse into the creative process of one of the foremost halachic authorities of the nineteenth century.
Much of the material contained in this manuscript was later incorporated into Rabbi Ganzfried’s Pnei Shlomo on Masechet Sukkah, yet the present manuscript preserves a treasure of its own: sections that were never printed, as well as numerous textual differences and refined formulations that illuminate the author’s original thought process.
The manuscript provides an intimate connection to the Torah of the author of the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, a sefer that became a cornerstone of Jewish life, studied and followed in countless homes and communities across the globe.
Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried was renowned not only for his monumental halachic writings, but also for his profound Torah learning, humility, and dedication to spreading practical halacha.
